On Angels Wings

Chapter 6

Angels Wood.

D stopped where the footprints vanished. A circle of melted, and refreezed snow was the only sign of anything happening. The snow was tainted with blood. "Damnit Cass...." He looked around, wings tighting around his shoulders and torso. The pack was nessled between his wings.

"Mommy..." Teddy whimpered from Joran's arms. Joran simply wrapped his arms around the child and whispered something in his ear. Teddy nodded and looked over at D. "What do we do now?" His voice was almost yelling to get around the cold winter air

"We go to town and help the others get packed. We need to get to higher ground or leave across the desert." D brushed his fingers off on his knees, brown eyes darking consisterably. He was Pissed, with a capital P. "Damn you Cassie... You know better then to leave without us..." He tossed his head, dislodging his locks from their resting place as he looked into the sky. "if you aren't safe, I'll kill you myself." He whispered as he turned, motioning them back down the side of the mountian.

Jewls sent Annabelle moving once more as the small girl paused to stare at thesky. "Anna, you got to keep working, if we are to load up the bus and the trucks, we need to keep moving." Jewls steered her with a light hand toward the Truck. "Your dad will be back soon. But we need your help."

"Yes'm Mama." Anna tore her gaze from the horizion as she toddled carefully back to the truck with an armfull of pillows.

"Damn." Azzie slammed his sweat soaked palms on the table. He was standing behind it, looking at D, Michael and Gab. The girls were packing the trucks and the Bus for the long trip out of here and East. "You mean she just vanished?"

"Without a trace." D was relaxed, feet propped up on one corner of the desk, hands clasped lightly across his taunt stomach. So maybe he wasn't as relaxed as he tried to appear to be. "What do we do?"

"We go to the gathering spot. The world didn't fall with us. For some reason, we changed early." Mike was echoing his twin's stature, only he was as relaxed as he looked. "Nothing has changed. Cass did her duty."

"She did nothing!" Azzie slammed his fist in the desk, whirling around to look out the window. His wings where meshed, forming a almost cloth like trenchcoat. It, would hurt, however, if say he was shot in the shoulder. For it would hurt both shoulder and wing. " This is a bunch of shit... We were supposed to protect her!"

"Our lord and master calls, don't you hear it, whispering gently on the wind? We must go, or fall like so many before us." Gab's deep rumble entered the conversation. Gab was leaning on the door, making sure the children didn't accidently interupt. "He calls, we Answer."

The air fell heavily amung the four angels. Four of the most powerful angels ever created. The air changed, slowly, gathering electicty. "What?" Gab straightened, tensing in his chair. Where his gray orbs had been half closed, they were now wide with horror. "No.."

Mikes fingernails dug into the chair as the very air became an almost living, breathing thing. It burned as each man took a breath, then exhaled. Mikes knuckles were white as his blues turned heavenward. "No.." He whispered through cletched teeth, the pain echoing through every inch of his body, soul and mind.

Fallen. The wind howled, as if echoing, mocking their pain. Another angel had fallen from his post, fallen into the depths of hell.

D closed his eyes. "We must go." He finally whispered as the air became normal. "We are being summoned. We will do her no honor to stay." His brown eyes opened slowly, something flickering behind them as he looked at Azrael. "We have to."

"Damn..." Azzie whispered, clentching his fists at his sides. He turned slowly, brown locks shifting and settling along his shoulderblades. "Know this.... I go with a heavy heart, for I have failed one of my most beloved and cherished duties this day." His eyes, swirling with blue and gray looked to D.

Together, the two friends had watched over Cass, in her many forms, many times. To loose her, on the age of Ending, was an almost complete insult. D understood, Azzie knew, as he motioned. "Lets get going, the sooner we answer his summons, the sooner we can Find her."

"If she lives." D whispered, blowing absently on the pesky redbrown lock that fell into his eyes.

Kai scowled, shoving Duncan into a snow bank. "This is the way home, you said. Trust me, you said... ADMIT IT! We're LOST!" She scowled, tucking her wings and muttering the word for them to form into a warm shimmering lavender, sky blue and pink bomber jacket. "Bloody hell.. We'll never get there in time..."

"Good one Dunky... She got you there, I tooold you to ask for driections at the gas station." Ellijah tucked n tugged his wings from the howling wind, forming them into a trenchcoat. "Now what are we going to do?"

"Follow the summons, and pray we taught them to do the same... Otherwise, we will be fighting some of the most dangerous creatures." Duncan shoved his beard into his belt, shoving his wings closed and sealing them, making him look like he was in very bulky monks robes. "Ha... I do hope they realised the mortals have no clue whats going on yet..."

"I would hope My Azrael would show Your D and Michael what to do." Ellijah shoved Duncan back into the snow. "Otherwise, we could be facing a "End of the World, we're going to die" Flight or fight, bad movie remake, world." Ellijah snorted, crinkling his very red nose upward. "Or, have little alliens toast our planet...."

Kai slammed a fist over his mouth. "Shut up... Az let you watch one to many bad end of the world flicks..." She shook her hand n shoved it back into her pocket. "So, which one of you old farts remembers the spell?"

By the blank looks both of them were giving her, Kai rolled her eyes and shook out her hands, letting the blood rush back into them. "And, by that token, I'll assume my Ladies are the only ones with enough knowledge to transport the boys?" Kai took another hard stare at them and tossed up her hands. "Lord, why must I be stuck with the ultimate idoits? Can't you stick them with Uri?"

"hey..." Duncan spat water, once snow, out of his mouth. then shook out his hair. "I resemble that remark..." Ellijah nodded swiftly.

"Yes he does... But did you have to inculde me in the idoits? How about a little forgetful?" Ellijah ducked the incoming snow ball.

"Lord, Father, Maker. We plead you to hear our call, our cry." Kai bent down, scribbling a cross roughly in the snow. "Master, Messiah, holy one, I call to you. Answer my humble prayer. Take your angels to your throne, so we may worship at your feet and answer your wishes. " Kai glanced up, looking at the boys. "Well?" She hissed, smaking both of them with two more snow balls.

"eh.. Yeah... Lord... Um... Presence, blah blah.." Duncan snorted, he was a Druid... not a bloody angel... He swiftly got knocked back into the snow.

"Ingore him..." Elijah smiled brightly and bowed his head over his crossed hands. "Father, your child seeks your guidence, let us join you in your heavenly presence."

"Blah... Humph!" Duncan mummbled around a handful of snow.

A light shot down between clouds, swirling around the trio. "Who seeks my honor?"

"Kai, Ellijah and Blah!" Ellijah got to one knee stiffly, letting his wings unfurl from his back. "We seek passage through your gate."

"Blah?" The voice, so deep, powerful, godlike, suddenly became like a child's and giggled. "Whos Blah?" A small figure popped into existance, floating with rapid wingbeats in the golden air. "oh! It's Dunky!"

"... Hey Cammile..." Duncan grumbled, sitting up on his knees. "Still Realm walking I see... Portals working well?"

"Dunky Dunky.. You should know better then to say stuff like that. He could hear and take offense." The small sprite, with the face almost like a kittens drifted down closer. "But your lucky, I just happend to be in the area and told him I could take you...If.."

"If? Ellijah cupped his hands, letting the small sprite land delicately in his palms. "My dear little Fae, you seem to forget, we are in the host."

"Ah, but you froget, my dear mortalturnedangel, that the world is not ending, not yet." Cammile fluttered her wings, impatience starting to leak.

"What do you mean? We got our wings, the summons..." Ellijah clasped the sprite tightly in his hands, causing her to squeak. "What kind of game is this Fae child."

"Even Luci fears the outsiders.." She squrimed. "You were summoned because we are being challenged, all ready the outer realms have fallen. They want the home of Gates."

Duncan paled, zooming her out of Ellijahs grip and patting her gently. "You mean they have returned?"

"Yes... And we are powerless unless the one who walks awakens truely, and even then, it's an uphill battle. The summons mean that anyone with some remote chance of helping protect the GateHouse is commanded to come." Cammile too a deep breath as she finshed, only to start again. "All, who want to live, fight and protect, are commanded to journey at once to the three sectors unable to be scanned by those who come. Where we can plan." She leaned on Duncans thumb.

"Gods above and below.." Duncan caressed Cammiles back lightly with a thumb. "It has begun again... Do..?"

"Yes, he and his lady both are awakened, she is with him. But, you must, you must go help your friends. If the outsiders break through, no god, fae or soulimmmortal will live to see the age of Endings and Beginings." Cammile fluttered back up in the air, small cat face worn. "I can open a portal to send you to the outpost in Asia. You are needed there. Your friends will need you to gather support. Find and protect the other angels awakening, as well as the other protecters. We will need everyone."

"Of course..." Duncan nodded, leaving both Kai and Ellijah staring in blank shock at him. "Well, let us be off..." Duncan nodded to the sprite. Cammile spreed her arms wide, the light shot bright and hot from between her breasts, opening a shimmering golden pool of light. "Go, quickly, our small friend is one of the best, and even she can not hold it open for long with Them coming!" Duncan dove through the pool of light.

With a questioning look up to the sprite, Kai followed. Elijah scowled, looking at her. "If I find out I get to work with Fae, I'll be seriously..." He was silenced as a hand reached out and dragged him into the shimmering light.

Chapter 7

The Summonings.

"Gah..." Azzie tucked his wings tighter around his body as snow mixed wind brushed it's cold fingers down the neck of his shirt. "Anyone remember the spell for wings to become a jacket?" He shifted, glancing over a half frozen nose to look over at D and Mike.

"Nope..." Mike looked miserable, through the last week, they had gone through extremes. Desert to snow, then through almost rainforests. "Got another question for you..." His teeth chattered without his permission. "Are we there yet?"

"Shut up." D smacked his twin upside the head, before sliding his hands back into his jeans. "Your the smart one who lost the bags with our winter clothes in them..." D blew an icicle, of what had one time been hair, out of his face. "Damnit..." He muttered, kicking a bit of snow. "This bites, first we loose Cass, then we loose our clothes, next I'll loose my pimpin' skills..."

Mike returned the favor, smacking D into a snow bank. "Shut up. God, the women flock to me, not you." He smirked n crossed his arms over his chest. Only to get shoved in right next to D by a pissed looking Jewls.

"What was that Mister?" Her arms crossed over her chest as she stood, feet planted firmly in the ground, looking down at her snowman. Domi and Beth both leaned on either side, giggling at the poor boys. Azzie wisely stepped a pace back, sending a pleading 'I maybe male, but your my heart.' look to Domi. She chuckled, quirking a finger over Jewl's shoulder.

Gab slid from the shadows, all bundled up in a pearlish gray trenchcoat. "The kids found it." He leaned down planting a kiss on Beth's cheek. "Looks like Uri and a few others are awake too." He brushed a rouge lock of midnight out of his eyes. "Well well.. looks like Mike and D were trying to pimp the women again.." He smiled, offering a large hand to D.

"Shove it Gab... Some of us can't find decent women like Beth." D got yanked to his feet by the larger man. "I mean, look at my poor twin..." D ran, ran like the wind, following the large footprints of Gab to the camp. He wouldn't stick around for Jewls outrage.

"Wings of might, wings of grace, vanish into streams of thread, weave me a jacket, so I can tread." D rolled his eyes as he recitied the silly poem. But , even with his scarasm, the wings shimmered, and if one had a slow motion cammera, one could see them become threads and weave in and out of eachother, forming a protective layer around D's body. His was leather like in quality, where Az's were more cloth like.

"Damn right." MIke chuckled, whispering the words under his breath, wings vanishing in a flurry of feathers. "oh no! I multed!!" Mike mock swooned, the back of his right hand on his forehead as he sagged into Jewls' arms.

"Yeah, okay Mike." She let him drop onto the ground, were abouts Nathan and Nick, the two blond wonders, pounced and smoothered him under bodies. Jewls turned to look at the girls. "Domi, you and Beth take the kids to the safehouse. I'll go with the boys and keep D's eyes from popping out of his head." D tossed a glare to Jewls as he kissed Marie's forehead.

"I'm coming with you." Joran spoke up, emeralds blazing with stubburn pride. "You may need a magus..." Az rolled his eyes, looking over at D who shrugged. "I'm not a baby anymore, hell, when you were my age you were already some of the best figthers... Come on..." Joran's fingers brushed messily through his locks, eyes on them. "Duncan taught me everything I know, surely your old advisor isn't all wrong."

"Fine... But only if you swear to move, only, when I say." Mike stared Joran down with deep blue eyes. Then he turned, looking at Domi and the kids. "Gab will go with you to help out. I'd feel better if you all kept close together."

"Of course." Domi nodded, brushing her fingers along the hems of her skirt, her wings to, had become a shawl, wrapped tightly around her shoulders. "Come children, let us go see who else brought kids along..." She nudge the brood with a loving finger prod, then followed, moving into town with careful steps.

"Jewls, if you'd be so kind.." Mike glanced at his lady, then tilted his head to the vehicles, who would know if they needed them again. Jewls smiled, bowing her head silghtly.

She bowed her head, whispering under her breath. She had to change the words, like wagon to truck, donkey to bus, but the spell should hold, it was the will behind it that was important. The world shifted in on it'self. The air hung heavy a moment, then with a soft pop, the vehicles were gone. Jewls sagged, and it was D who wrapped his arms around her to keep her on her feet.

"Thanks... D, would you carry her?" Mike smiled evilly. D and Jewls both looked outraged at the thought. "Kidding.. Kidding.." MIke held up his hands, then, took off, hair flapping in the wind, taking a path leading into the forest, instead of town.

"Come back here!" D screamed, charging after him. Jewls and Az exchanged a look then smiled and followed at a more sane pace. Joran held back a moment, then shrugged a small bundle closer to his chest.

"Soon..." He whispered, brushing a finger along the bundles cheek. Kelsi cooed softly up at him.

"hurry up Joran! Or you'll never see the dance!" A bright sounding voice chimmed over his head.

"Cammile?" Joran spun around, spotting the small fae instantly. "What are you doing here?"

"Answering my summons..." She blinked, fluttering her wings closer and landing on his shoulder. "And you my mortal friend? What are you doing here?"

"Same as you..." he shifted Kelsi closer, glancing at the small fae with a curious look. "Fae are gathering?"

"Our high lord called..." Cammile fluttered again, landing on kelsi's tummy. "What a cute child... May I give her a small gift?"

"Ah... sure... Why not..." Joran started moving after the others, careful not to jossle either passanger.

Cammile tapped her small pixie nose n sneezed. "bless me!" She squeaked, then leaned down and kissed Kelsi's forehead, causing a small glow to shine a soft pink in the dimming light of the dense forest.

"What did you do?" Joran asked without malice, only curiousity.

"Gave her, her birthright." Cammile smiled brightly and leaned againest him. "She's a very speical child.. But then, you would know that wouldn't you?"

"What does that mean?" Joran tensed looking at the small girl. She beamed and opened her mouth to respond when the world went black. "What in the..?"

"Shut up Human." A soft hiss echoed from the darkness. "Let the Fae and the Unicorn go, then leave. The summons are not for your kind."

Joran blinked, unicorn... of course! Stuipd stuipd stuipd... "I am with the Angels."

"Angels?" The voice rasped, then did the best version a large, over grown snake could for a snicker. "Angels, my boy, are a figment of your imajionation, of any mortals..." The dull sound of scales sliding againest rock echooed through the area around Joran, as if amplified by an unknown scorce. "And, the imajionation can not save you, from me."

"I think... we're in trouble." Cammile whispered into Jorans ear, cluching her small fingers around it like she were but a giant earring. "I don't suppose Dunky taught you the banishment spell?"

"uh... Nope... He said he'd teach me it, but then with all the confusion..." Joran muttered a word under his breath, a staff, topped with a eagle in flight, appeared in his hand. "I don't suppose you could... open a portal and get us out of here?"

"With the outsiders coming, you know that's impossible..." Cammile's voice was a bare whisper as both figures, one with a staff and a child, the other to small to do much good, faced off againest a giant snake.

"At least this isn't a videogame... with impossible odds..." Joran tossed his crimson locks out of his eyes. "Eagle, come forth!" He commanded. The eagle on the staff glowed a pale green, then became a miniture Eagle. "Go, find the angels, and tell them we need help." He held his staff high, and in a moment the tiny pale green, jade like, eagle flew off. "Okay, now we pray..."

tucked his wings tighter around his body as snow mixed wind brushed it's cold fingers down the neck of his shirt. "Anyone remember the spell for wings to become a jacket?" He shifted, glancing over a half frozen nose to look over at D and Mike.

Chapter 8

Snakes, Roaches and Lords!... Oh God!

D looked up, stopping in his pace, an green bird circled, before dropping and landing on his shoulder "What the..." D pressed two fingers between his lips and whistled, causing Mike and Az to stop in their tracks. Jewls only turned on a heel and stalked back.

"This better be good." Jewls tucked her hands deeper in her burgandy jacket.

"Joran's in trouble." Az spoke up, taking the eagle from D's hands. "A snake is blocking the way."

"One pesky little snake, and Joran can't deal with it..." Mike rolled his eyes. "I knew we should of left him with the others..." His words, though harsh, didn't stop his feet in the least as he broke out into a sprint. Jewls, after a moment, flew past him, D and Az drew up even.

"You think it's a big snake or a tiny snake?" Az muttered out.

"I'd say big... Joran's got an ego the size of D's..." MIke grinned, moving out of the way of a slap from D.

"Could you please..." D smirked, grabbing Mike's jacket and yanking, causing his twin to yelp in pain. "Keep running? You'll never get there in time." D cranked up the speed, pressing forward with long strides.

"Bastard! Get your happy ass back here!" Mike screamed, faltering in his footing, then he too, turned up the speed, running after his twin. Az simply rolled his eyes and followed.

"Watchout!" Cammile screetched in Jorans ear as the snake's large head, easily as big as Joran, darted forward, jaws snapping closed just outside of reaching them.

"Damn.. his breath stinks!" Joran slapped it's nose with his staff, bringing it down as hard as he could. "And he seriously needs to brush those Fangs.. Yellow just doesn't go with golden scales." Joran clasped Kelsi tighter to his chest, growling lowly under his breath as the snakes tail flung him into a tree.

"Joran!" Cammile zoomed off his shoulder, distracting the Snake with her small body. "Hang on, I think I hear them coming..."

"Whoa..." Az's voice broke over the snakes hissing. "that's one Big snake..." Az muttered under his breath, calling forth his weapon. A long handled, single edge sword emerged from his open palm with a gray light. "Time to play skin the snake." His lips curled into the imfamous, Azzie gets to kill something, grin.

D smiled, his katana just appearing from his palm to be clutched tightly in his hands. "I want his tail, Marie would love the rattle..." His face was totally calm as he moved swiftly forward.

"Hey! I wanted to give the rattle to Nathan..." Mike's wings erupted in a whirlwind of feathers, his own double edge sword popping into existance. "Yeah baby! Yeah!" He quoted Austin powers and dove into attack.

Jewls slammed her fist into the ground, and where she hit the ground exploded into a fury of small rocks, mixed with snow. Slowly they merged into a golem. "Now, we party..." She smiled, commanding the golem with a flicker of thought as she ran to cover Joran. It was then she noticed Cammile and Kelsi. "Damnit Joran..." She muttered, lifting his head gently from the roots it fell in after his landing.

Blood dripped from a gash in his forehead, and with just a glance Jewls knew his leg was broken. "Damn..." She muttered, glancing over to the boys, who were actully toying with the snake. Dodging just within snapping distance, then darting out as the two others struck. They also, had wide grins on their faces. Jewls rolled her eyes muttering under her breath.

"Come on snakiewakie...." D taunted, poking at it's eye with his sword, wings beating heavily in the cold wing. Then, right before the head had compeltely rolled around to look, he was gone, and Azzie had sliced through the tough hide, causing greenblue goo to leak out.

"Okay, now see? That's just Nasty!" Mike scowled the dying snake. "Now I'm just goin' to have to zap you..." He bashed the hilt of his sword over the snakes head. "Little snakie fooofooo.... Where ya goin?" He flew after the snake, into the dense woods, as the snake, tried to make a brave exit.

"Hey! Dumbshit! Let it...." D screamed after his twin only to blink as Mike backed out, white as a sheet. "Umm Mike?"

"Big.. big..." Mike stuttered, falling back into Az, knocking them both to the ground. "ROACH!" He screamed, scambling over Az to Jewls. "Kill it! Kill it!!!" He was in hysterics, fingers grasping wildly for his sword, which he dropped near the edge of the clearing.

Jewls rolled her eyes and patted his head. "Good god.." D snickered at his twin. "You'd think..." He trailed off, as his gaze meet the 30 foot roach. "Oh my god..." His jaw unhinged, as he too backed off. "that's just Nasty!" He whispered a word, a fireball forming in his open palm. He outstretched his hand, wound for the pitch, and let the fireball fly into the roach.

As the roach burned with a nasty smell, Jewls hurled a snowball up at D. "Damnit! That shit stinks! you had to Toast it!"

"Thanks bro!" Mike chimed up over Jewls. He was calmmer now, but there was still a wildish look in his shappires. "Damn Roaches.... They always have..."

"Kids!" Joran screetched, moving like a mad man, with a concussion, he held kelsi close as the party backed the way D had backtracked. "Hell... It would be us getting stuck with the welcoming party." Joran held his staff high, muttering under his breath, almost running into a tree. A light, the same jadish color as before, started glowing at the tip of his staff. Then, with a loud pop, it came free, hurling toward the first row of roaches. Where the light touched, sizzling and snapping came.

"The path! it's changed!" Azzie tucked his wings back into trench form. "We gotta find the old one."

"We don't have a choice, just keep moving." Mike cringed behind Jewls, who was the one speaking. Then, out of her open palm, shot out a fireball. "Holy shit.. they just keep coming."

"We need a seriously big bottle of Raid..." D sliced one of the smaller, at 3 feet high and 6 across, into two seperate parts. "A very big bottle of Raid..." He darted out of the path of another one. "Or a motel... I'd take a motel right about now..."

"Will you shut up and fight?" Jewls tossed another fireball, this one aimed behind her shoulder. "Jesh, were the hell are they all coming from."

"Hells back door." A disimbodied voice echoed through the trees. The roaches still alive, backed off, into the shadows. "Or, as I like to say, the outworld." The voice was a tenor, with a lilt to it.

"Dear..." A female voice spoke from another treetop, behind the party.

"Of course Princess.." The male voice slowly became attached to a thin man's body. Cammile gasped and flew up to his shoulders. "Hello Cammile..." His fingers looked like an old mans, reaching out to do a mini hug to the Fae. "I see you answered the summons..."

"Of course..." Cammile smiled, bobbing in the air as she bowed. "How is the honor of the Realm Walkers?" Cammile's small pink painted lips parted in a smile.

"Well. Surprisingly..." His hazel gaze fell to the gathering below. "Angels?" He whirled to look at the one he called Princess. She was dressed in a long baby blue princess style dress, with no sleeves. Her skin gleamed a soft white in the dim forest light. Soft gray blues stuided the people below, then turned to look at her mate. "What is the meaning of this Princess? You know I dislike working with them, besides, they know how to play scoccer when we are about to play Chess..." His voice died to a cheerful, childlike whisper, with a hint of sarcasam and humor dripping from it. "Besides, without me, they all die."

Her voice was a soft tinkle of bells as she laughed. "My dearest love, they know they want to fight for the people, the place... Even you shouldn't turn away help." She floated, no wings, just floated, on air to his side. Small hands wrapping around his arm. Both made a pretty couple, regal almost, and power emiated from them like heat from a fire. "Besides... Cass worked with them."

"Cass..." his voice softened, if because of Cass's name, or because of his wifes light touch. "Very well..." He motioned, drifting to the ground and landing with a soft thud. "I am Justin." He stated after a pause. "This is my wife, Sheera" His fingers clasped lightly among his wifes.

"I'm Azrael..." Azzie spoke up, motioning to his group. "Michael, and Draco." He motioned to the other angels. "Jonathon, and Julia." At the last two he motioned to Joran and Jewls. " Azzie raked his fingers through his hair. "We're here, answering our own summons."

"You heard them?" Justin seemed a bit surprised, but then, nothing passed over his features. He seemed to study them for a long while. His wife, however, covered for him.

"We are the Masters of Duwatha. The Home of Gates." Sheera motioned behind her, a path lighting up as if her mere motion created it. "We summoned all who could hear... To guard our home." She stepped forward, on soft footfalls, eyeing Azrael with more scurtiany then the others. "You..." Then she turned her grayblues on D. "And you... Cassandra has her mark on you both." She turned and looked at Justin. "I trust them."

"Very well..." He motioned, then turned, with Sheera on his arm, and moved down the path. "I don't like you... Azrael, if that's what you call yourself now..." He spoke without looking from the path. "Or You, Draconis, and my displeasure at angelkind on a whole is noticable."

"However." Sheera spoke a heart beat after Justin. " Cassandra is a dear, and very old friend. She trusted you, there fore, we trust you as well. She is also the one who stepped in on your Lord God's behalf and asked for his help." The footfalls were all that could be heard as they moved through the forest, the path slowly turning into cobble stones.

"It has begun, the outsiders want in, and only a few people can hold them back." He brushed aside some vines, beyond them was a garden. "Sheera and I are concept and Existance." He slipped in after his lady proceeded him. "We hold two of the best tools to stop them."

Azzie was seething in anger, but Joran had slid Kelsi in his arms, and she had, as usual, a calming influence on anyone who held her. "We aren't exactly chopped liver." He finally managed to get passed firmly pressed lips.

"You serve a god, who takes away your free will, to give you want? A chance for him to turn his back on you and your mortal kin?" Justin whirled, it was obvious both men had different veiws. Sheera placed a slender hand on his arm. He bit his tongue and turned back around.

"What my love says is true, but we have known of your god for a very long time." Sheera rested a pale cheek againest Justins shoulder. "However, we do need assistance, and I shall not be the one to turn you away." Long pale locks of spun gold fell into her ageless eyes as she watched Jewls.

"Then why insult us?" Jewls spoke up finally, having been muffled by Mike's hand. "I mean, you say you need our help, yet you insult us at almost every turn."

"He means well..." Sheera glanced up at Justins hard features. His jaw was set, like it always was when he was angry. She smiled slowly and looked over at Jewls. "Our men, are very powerful. Both are very stubburn."

Jewls nodded, and smiled slowly, she liked the older woman. "Yes.. they are." She glanced up at Mike, then wrapped his arms around her waist. "What can we help you with?"

Justin muttered something under his breath. Sheera chuckled softly, leaning up on her tiptoes and kissing his cheek lovingly. "We do not know..."

"You don't..." D smirked and rolled his eyes. "Great..." Mike kicked him in the ass with a well placed boot.

"Pardon my twin, we have had a long journey." Mike glanced over Jewls' head to Justin.

"It's not nessascry." Sheera untangled from his arm. "Let me show you something..." She slid to a pool, it's clear water sparkling and still. "Show me." She whispered, brushing her hand over the pool as she kneeled beside it. Jewls, mike, D and Azzie crowded behind her. While Joran took the moment to speak with Justin in hushed tones.

"Duck!" Beth screamed, diving and snagging Teddy to the floor, the sword swinging for his head missing by a breath. Annabelle and Marie huddled behind Nathan and Domi. Gab snagged Nick as he tried to attack the larger man. "Why?" Beth whispered, looking up at huge feet. Axe propped in wide hands.

"Fallen..." D'arts lips twisted into a manaic grin. "With Cass.. Don't you see? We don't have to worship Him." He swung the axe downward, Beth rolling out the way. "Now, come on and let me capture you..."

"Cass isnt' fallen!" Beth slid to her feet with a roll, blasting D'art back with a ball of light. Domi whispered, gathering water between her hands, then blasting it out, knocking another nameless fallen out of the way.

"She is... Fallen before this realm was created.." D'art grabbed Teddy with a strong grip. "She is one of the first fallen." His lips curled in a smirk. "She just didn't know it yet." He slid the axe along Teddy's throat. "Give up or he dies."

Teddy squirmed, tears misting in his eyes, but he didn't cry out. Gab was the first to toss down his huge sword. Domi and beth followed shortly after. "Don't hurt him." Gab cupped his hands behind his back.

"I wont'... Cass needs to have a reason to become what she was... My lord and master wants to give her one." D'art chuckled, then motioned with his axe. A Dark portal forming in the rift of the blade. "Get in." Slowly, the children and their guardians filed through the rift. D'art smiled. "I feel you Little witch... You will not stop Us."

Sheera gasped, dropping the scrying spell and droping back slowly. "Damn..." She whispered, looking over her shoulder at Justin. "This could be very bad..."

Chapter 9

The Fallen.

Cassies fingers brushed along the bookcase. The black, stormy contact paper smooth againest her flesh. "My old room..." She turned, golden hazels taking in her last room under her parents roof. "Was it a dream?" She brushed a hand through her locks, they were even the length, a handsbreath away from her waist. She glanced, looking for the mirror and bronze goblets to take in her reflection.

She even looked 20 again, hazels still betraying the neverending innocence, not yet harded by life. Pale flesh still having some color to it. She raised her fingers, first to touch the image, then to brush along the brass goblets. The memory of the small faire she, D and Azzie went to four years before, or was it two? When she bought the goblets, only three inches in height, to go with Azzies' bags of tea. They couldn't drink out of them, but the vow carried across.

A secret one.... She would drink out of one, only when her mate was by her side. "Such a long time ago..." She looked away from her image, ashamed, as she had been when she was younger. When there had been a hope He would come back, with wide arms to hold and protect her from harm.

Cass tightened her fist, her nails, two years grown, were bitten down to painful lengths, and as such, left no marking on her palms. She brushed her fist along the door knob to the closet. It was like she had left it, old computer perched to the left, desk, cleared but for six cans of colored, and lead penicls. Books piled up every which way with the occassional stuffed animal.

Cass let her body sink into the familar chair. This, one article, a beat down peice of furtiture from 4 houses and 12 years before, the last of the old stuff. Stubburnly fit just so into the small space. She smiled, she couldn't help it, it had been her sancuary as her father lost the little intrest he had in his first born. As her mother slowly lost the patence, leaving more and more from the house with her father.

Late into the night she would sit. Sit, draw or write, sometimes just thinking about Him, about her choices. Cass smiled, tugging on a lock gently, she'd admit it to herself, nine times out of ten, her writting, drawing and thinking were about Him. Cass spun around in her chair, it felt good to be in a familar spot.

Everything was so easy back then... No, that wasn't true, she had to be honest. It had been hell. Hell, listening to your mother trash your father on a daily basis, then turn her back on you, only to command from a high perch, reinforcing the rules when she saw fit. Dad wasn't any better, he sat on his throne and nothing, not one peice of her room was hers....

Accept the beat up beaniebaby rabbit, her scrap of babyblanket her grampa's money had bought her as a child, and a teddybear her dad gave her. Cass snagged the small, hand sized, bunny of the harddrive of her computer, holding it close. "Usagi..." She whispered, brushing a finger down the small stuffed animals head.

Her head shot up as the screaming started. Her brother screaming at her mother, her mother screaming at her father, and her father, so quick to blame it on her. Cass closed the door to the closet as silently as possible, holding the bunny close and whispering under her breath. "make it stop... please... let them just get along..."

"I can make it stop..." Her teddybear spoke up at her feet. Cass jumped backwards up onto her desk from her chair. Somethings hadn't changed. "I can make it stop.. if you tell me what I want to know."

"No." Cass clutched the bunny tighter to her chest. "No Sir Teddy, I won't tell you... I can't." She sniffed, like a six year old, lost and afraid, but stubburn. Even then, she had clung to the hope someone would protect her, watch over her.. Help her. But no one came, no one that was like what she remembered. But he was like a distant dream.. a hazy fog... D was so much like that...

Cass slunk lower againest the wall, drawing her knees to her chest. "I can't... He trusts me... Justin trusts me... They all trust me..." She clung to that trust with both fists, her sanity was slipping, again. "I won't hurt them." She whispered, throwing the bunny at the walking teddybear. "Go away! You won't make them stop, no one can! But D n Azzie took me away from them! Made me okay again! I don't wanta hurt them!"

Cassie was deteraiting fast, even Luci could see that. He let the act drop, scaring her into the child wasn't a good idea. Her child side, her last? defense was more stubburn and foolhardy then the woman. "Come Cassandra... Surely you want to help me.. I can protect you... Love you... " He slid from the image of the teddybear, assuming his own form.

"No, you mean man!" Cass snimpered, crawling in deeper on herself.

"You would become a child in a womans body to protect them Cass? For what? They did nothing for you... Your heart screams to tell your lover your feelings, yet you don't for fear he'll hurt you... If he loved you, he won't hurt you..." Luci was running out of ideas, she had been fighting him, nonstop for the last 3 weeks. Even after the ladies and children had been captured, broken, she won't buckle. The angel was the only one as stubburn as her, and even he was starting to fade.

Fade. Not fall. "Damnit." Luci's fingers slammed into Cass's cheek, sending her againest the opposite wall, not that it was far away. "Damn you. Damn your spirit..." He opened the closet door and exited her mind.

"Not doing to well boss?" Domi smirked, hands on her hips as she glanced over at Cass's babbling and crying in hysterics form. "She just sits there and wails..." Domi trailed off as the air rushed from her diaphram. Her back slammed againest the wall with a sickening crack. She slumped to the floor, cheeks sunken in her cheeks.

"Fae. You discust me." Lucifer spat on her, then moved out of the chambers.

Domi crawled over to Cass and rocked her gently. "it's okay Cassie... He's gone for now.." Her voice was a bare whisper. So far her and beth were playing the act of fallen. Lucky for her, it was close enough to the truth that Luci beleived it.

"Mommy..." Cass whimpered, buring her face in Domi's shoulder, tears streaming from her cheeks, small hiccups bubbling up every few moment or so.

"It's alright... soon... Soon we'll get out of here... And then I'll personally shove a boot up D's ass and tell him how you feel..." Domi's fingers brushed through Cass's hair as her eyes looked heaven ward. "Azzie.. hurry up and come get us... we can't hold out for much longer..."
